Imo government denies Governor Uzodimma’s alleged 2027 vice-presidential ambition

A poster, which features the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, as the presidential candidate and Governor Uzodimma as his running mate, was labeled “The Winning Team 2027. Vote APC 2027"

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma

The Imo State Government has denied claims suggesting Governor Hope Uzodimma’s involvement in a poster promoting a vice-presidential bid for the 2027 election.

The poster, which features the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, as the presidential candidate and Governor Uzodimma as his running mate, was labeled “The Winning Team 2027. Vote APC 2027.”

In response, Imo’s Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, described the poster as fake and malicious. He asserted that the poster’s circulation was an attempt by mischief makers to create friction between Governor Uzodimma and President Bola Tinubu.

Emelumba clarified that Governor Uzodimma has never considered running for the vice presidency, emphasizing that he is focused on delivering his second-term mandate and supporting President Tinubu.

The statement read, “It is both laughable and preposterous. Apart from the governor being engrossed in discharging his second term mandate, he has also been supporting Mr President, so where does this malicious misinformation spring from?”

The commissioner accused opposition parties of spreading fake news to create discord and advised them to stop engaging in activities that could harm the relationship between the federal and state governments.
