- Governor Fintiri approves ₦70,000 minimum wage for Adamawa civil servants, effective August 2024, using the 2019 consequential adjustment template
- Local government workers may receive adjusted salaries in September as the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission review is ongoing
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved the payment of the new national minimum wage of ₦70,000 to civil servants in the state, starting from August 2024.
Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Adamawa State, made the announcement following a closed-door meeting with the governor at the state Government House.
Governor Fintiri had previously committed to implementing the Federal Government’s resolution on the new minimum wage during the 2024 May Day celebration.
Fashe explained that the 2019 consequential adjustment template would calculate the new wage percentages, and the office of the Accountant General has been directed to update the August payroll accordingly.
However, local government workers might have to wait until September for their salary adjustments, as the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission is still conducting the necessary review.
