Senate President Godswill Akpabio

A group of former agitators from the Niger Delta has spoken out against calls for the impeachment of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, describing them as a plot against prominent politicians from the Southern region.

At a press conference in Port Harcourt, the chairman of the Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Forum, Alban Paulinus, said the group will resist any attempts to undermine Akpabio’s leadership.

The forum praised Akpabio as a symbol of national unity and stressed that every Nigerian deserves respect regardless of their state of origin or geopolitical zone.

The group also called for the creation of a South-South Development Commission, separate from the Niger Delta Development Commission, to ensure equity and justice in regional development.

Additionally, the forum condemned recent protests against President Bola Tinubu, urging Nigerians to be patient with the federal administration and expressing confidence that the president’s policies will yield positive results in the coming months and years.”
