Bandits have reportedly killed 13 persons during an attack in the Anguwan Mai-Giro community of Shiroro LGA of Niger.
The community was said to have been attacked on Wednesday.
Confirming the incident, Yakubu Garba, deputy governor of Niger, described the attack as “satanic, insensible, atrocious and callous”.
Garba said it’s utterly appalling and deeply disturbing to see people perpetrate such a “barbaric and vicious act” against their own fellow humans.
The deputy governor expressed condolences to the grieving families, residents, and the broader community of Shiroro LGA following the tragic event.
Garba reaffirmed that the state government is resolute in its quest to restore peace and security across the state.
He asked security agencies to remain steadfast and undeterred in their efforts, promising them full support in their battle against criminal elements.
In March, bandits abducted over 20 women during an attack on a market in Madaka community under Rafi LGA of Niger state.
