11 injured as BRT bus overturns on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

The accident occurred around 7:45 am within the dedicated BRT lane

Tragedy struck early Friday morning when a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus overturned on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, leaving 11 people injured. The accident occurred around 7:45 am within the dedicated BRT lane.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that emergency responders quickly arrived to provide medical aid and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

In a statement on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, LASTMA said, “A fully loaded high-capacity bus fell on its side inside the dedicated BRT lane with a record of 10 casualties, who have been taken care of.”

In a separate incident, a loaded truck fell at Durbar junction on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, obstructing traffic toward Alakija. LASTMA officers promptly redirected traffic through the service lane to ease the gridlock.

Motorists were advised to follow the diversion and exercise patience as efforts continue to clear the road and restore normal traffic flow.
