Defection: Why gov Ododo met with PDP governors – Kogi govt

The Kogi State Government has disclosed why Governor Usman Ododo met with governors of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) recently.

A picture of Ododo with PDP governors in matching native outfit had surfaced on social media yesterday fuelling rumours of his impending exit from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and defection to the PDP.

However, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Kogi State Commissioner of Information, has now explained the circumstances that necessitated the picture.

According to him, contrary to widespread assertion, Governor Ododo did not attend a meeting of the PDP governors’ forum.

He said the governor only attended a wedding ceremony in Taraba State which was hosted by Governor Agbu Kefas and had other PDP governors in attendance.

Fanwo made the response in a social media post.

In his words, “The Chief Servant of Kogi State, His Excellency Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, jetted out hours after his Supreme Court victory to attend the wedding of the daughter of the Taraba State Governor, His Excellency Agbu Kefas, in Taraba.”

Within Nigeria had earlier reported that the Governors under the umbrella of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had a meeting on Friday.

The PDP governors met to find lasting solutions to the plethora of challenges facing the party especially the leadership crisis.

Photos from the meeting show Governor Ododo dressed in a matching outfit with his PDP counterparts.

The governors included Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara) and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau).
