President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration’s hard decisions are aimed at making life easier, promising that the benefits of these policies will soon be felt across the country. He also committed to upholding the rule of law, respecting the separation of powers, and tolerating dissenting opinions within the nation’s legal framework.

The President made these remarks on Sunday while opening Lagos’s Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented Tinubu at the event, acknowledged the NBA’s longstanding role in promoting democratic values and the rule of law in Nigeria.

Tinubu emphasized, “This administration will continue to promote the rule of law, adherence to the principles of separation of powers, and tolerance of dissent within the bounds of the law.”

He recognized the difficulties associated with making significant changes but expressed confidence that the current challenges were temporary. He urged Nigerians not to adopt a defeatist attitude but to stay committed to building the country of their dreams.

“While I acknowledge the temporal existence of some daunting challenges besetting us as a nation, I would like to urge you all not to adopt a defeatist approach; rather, we should remain resolute in working for a country of our dreams,” Tinubu said.

The President highlighted the necessity of moving away from the ineffective practices of the past to ensure sustainable development, noting that difficult decisions and changes are essential for national progress. Though initially challenging, he reassured that the outcomes of these changes would soon bring much-needed relief to Nigerians.
