The Federal High Court in Abuja chaired by Justice Peter Lifu, has given the Department of State Services (DSS) permission to detain Ibrahim Nasiru, a suspected terrorist, in custody for 60 days.

This extended detention period, starting from August 27, aims to facilitate an in-depth investigation into the various allegations against the suspect.

During a court session on Tuesday, Justice Lifu granted the DSS’s request, presented by their counsel, Barrister Yunusa Idris Umar, through an ex-parte application.

According to the lawyer, Nasiru was arrested on July 29 and initially appeared before a Magistrate Court in Abuja, where a preliminary detention order was issued.

However, the DSS sought additional time to investigate the suspect’s alleged involvement in multiple terrorist activities.

Due to sensitive security concerns, the details of these activities were not publicly disclosed in court.

The lawyer appealed to the judge to approve the DSS’s request, citing the need to prioritize national security.

After examining the submitted documentary evidence, Justice Lifu authorized the 60-day detention to enable further investigation and questioning.
