A catastrophic flash flood has killed twenty five people in Yemen, authorities in the Middle East nation have said.
The incident, which happened in the northwestern province of Al-Mahwit on Tuesday, was reportedly caused by over 24 hours of torrential rainfall.
The disaster led to the collapse of three dams and destroyed dozens of houses in the Malhan district on Tuesday, local health source said on Wednesday.
Rescue operations are underway as several villagers are still missing, the source disclosed.
Earlier this month, heavy rains and flash floods in the northern provinces of Hodeidah and Hajjah claimed 45 lives and damaged over 12,000 homes, according to local health authorities.
