Ohanaeze Youths condemn exclusion of South-East in first phase of student loan disbursement

The Council's National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, criticized the decision as unjustifiable

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has voiced strong disapproval over the exclusion of the South-East region from the initial phase of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) disbursement.

The Council’s National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, criticized the decision as unjustifiable, arguing it continues a pattern of marginalization against the Igbo people.

The Federal Government recently announced that N2.9 billion had been allocated to 27,667 students from 19 tertiary institutions across the country, yet none from the South-East made the list. Ohanaeze Youths rejected the rationale provided by NELFUND and demanded full inclusion of the South-East in the program.

Okwu also urged the region’s tertiary institutions to meet the required criteria, warning against any actions that could hinder students’ access to the loan.
