The management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED) has announced that it has refunded N1.3 billion to postpaid customers who were erroneously overbilled.
The company stated that the affected customers were overbilled between January and September 2023, following an order by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). Dr. Adakunle Friday, the organization’s Head of Corporate Communication, disclosed this information in a statement in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
According to the statement, 52,000 customers benefited from this refund. Dr. Friday advised customers to check their April 2024 bills to confirm the exact amount refunded to them individually.
Additionally, the statement revealed that 219,752,347 kWh was refunded to customers in Benue, Bauchi, Gombe, and Plateau states.
The spokesperson appealed to customers to continue to trust the company, saying, “As a responsible juristic personality, Jos Electricity Distribution Plc would continue to serve all its customers with a high premium of commitment and dedication.”
