Police operatives from the Angwan Lambu Division in Nasarawa State have arrested a woman, Khadija Umar, also known as “Naira,” along with two of her biological children, in connection with a series of housebreaking and theft incidents.
According to a press release by the Nasarawa State Police Command, Khadija Umar orchestrated the criminal activities by scouting targeted areas and monitoring residents.
Once the coast was clear, she allegedly enlisted the help of her two sons and two other suspects, who are currently at large, to carry out the thefts.
During the operation, the police recovered several stolen items from the suspects, including two television sets, two 6×6 mattresses, a gas cooker, a 12kg cylinder, a standing fan, a GoTV decoder, cooking pots, an electric jug, a refrigerator, and solar panels.
The items are believed to have been stolen from various homes in the area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrests and assured the public that the command remained committed to apprehending the remaining suspects and ensuring justice was served.
Nansel stated that the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered an immediate manhunt for the other suspects involved in the crimes.
He has also directed the Divisional Police Officer to ensure that the arrested suspects are charged to court for prosecution once the investigation is concluded.
