- Rivers State Police Command spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko stated that the arrest was carried out by the Force’s Anti-Fraud Unit from Abuja
The family of Isaac Bristol Alagbariya has accused officers of the Rivers State Police Command of unlawfully arresting and torturing their son after forcibly entering his hotel room on Ada George Road, near Port Harcourt.
During a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Isaac’s elder brother, Asime Alagbariya, described the arrest as unlawful and demanded his immediate release.
He alleged that on August 5, 2024, plainclothes police officers broke into Isaac’s room at Osmosis Hotel, arresting him and taking him to an undisclosed location.
Asime also accused the police, along with the hotel manager, of confiscating Isaac’s belongings, including a personal diary containing sensitive cryptocurrency information valued at approximately ₦43 million. He further criticized a first-generation bank for allegedly releasing Isaac’s bank details to the police without his consent.
In response, Rivers State Police Command spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko stated that the arrest was carried out by the Force’s Anti-Fraud Unit from Abuja, not by the state command. She advised contacting the Force Public Relations Officer for further details.
