Avoid Political Opportunists, Showunmi Tells Gov Adeleke

Olusegun Obasanjo urged Governor Adeleke to prioritise infrastructure projects in Osun

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Otunba Segun Showunmi, has advised Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State to stay focused on his duties and avoid distractions from those he refers to as “political opportunists.”

He also expressed concern that the media is focussing on Adeleke’s “Davidic nature and dancing swag.”

Adeleke is known for his love of dancing, which earned him the nickname ‘The Dancing Governor.’

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo urged Governor Adeleke to prioritise infrastructure projects in Osun during a government project commissioning in March.

Showunmi in a statement issued in Abeokuta, Ogun State, said the media appears only showcasing dancing swag of the governor, who, according to him, has put “phenomenal development works across the state.”

He spoke while narrating his experience about his visit to Osun State a few days ago.

The PDP Chieftain said he did a personal tour round the state, conducted interviews and was wowed by the developmental strides of the government.

He listed about six projects that the governor has undertaken in barely two years in office.

“Honestly, I was not expecting much from the Governor of Osun state in terms of projects, because the best the media has been projecting about him was just his Davidic nature, the dancing swag.

“With little hope, I asked one of his men to show me Governor Ademola Adeleke’s projects in the state, then what I saw wowed me.

“I cannot believe the direction at which the Governor is tilting towards the development of the state . He has monumental on-going projects which have great capacity to influence the living standard of the people positively,” Showunmi said.

He urged all sons and daughters of Osun State to join hands with Adeleke to contribute to put the state on the path of economic growth and development.
