Ogun: Man, 32, kills self over economic hardship

In Ogun State, one Oluwaseun Shorinola has taken his own life in the Kemta area of Abeokuta, the State capital.

The wife of the deceased was said to have found his lifeless body hanging from the ceiling in their house.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, saying it happened at about 10 pm on Wednesday.

It’s gathered that his death may have been caused by the current economic hardship facing the country.

Odutola said: “On August 28, 2024, Temitope Oguntade reported at the Kémta Police Division that she had received a call from Tajudeen Aremu informing her that her brother had been found dead by his wife.”

“A police team was immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found Shorinola’s body hanging, confirming that he had taken his own life. The body was subsequently brought down”.

She added that the command is monitoring the situation as the family declined an autopsy and insisted on taking the corpse for burial.
