The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Aviance) has rewarded Mr. Auwal Dankode, a staff member, for returning $10,000 he found while cleaning an aircraft in Kano. The reward includes a cash prize, an instant promotion, and an appointment as a NAHCO Brand Ambassador.
Dankode, who was cleaning an Egypt Air MS 878 aircraft when he discovered the money left behind by a passenger, immediately turned it over to the Airline’s Station Manager. Speaking at a ceremony held at NAHCO’s headquarters in Lagos, Dankode expressed gratitude to the company for the training and opportunity to work at the airport, noting that no one from his area had ever worked there.
The Group Managing Director/CEO of NAHCO, Mr. Indranil Gupta, commended Dankode for his honesty and integrity, stating, “He is a true NAHCO ambassador and an embodiment of what NAHCO stands for: honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work.” Gupta highlighted that the majority of NAHCO staff exhibit these values in their daily work and urged Dankode to continue to be a good NAHCO ambassador.
Other NAHCO executives also praised Dankode’s actions. Mr. Adeoye Emiloju, the Chief Financial Officer, noted, “The integrity you’ve displayed is innate to you.” COO Mr. Didier Steullet encouraged Dankode to stay grounded and continue making a positive difference. Dr. Sola Obabori, the Group Executive Director, added that Dankode’s actions have made him a “poster boy” for NAHCO worldwide, especially in a context where the dollar’s value is very high.
As NAHCO’s new Brand Ambassador, Dankode will represent the company at major events nationwide, promoting its brand, and will have opportunities to travel and engage with top officials and stakeholders.
