  • El-Rufai dismisses critics, says he doesn’t care how they interpret his posts, insisting “what will be, will be”
  • Kaduna State currently faces a huge debt burden inherited from El-Rufai’s administration, hampering progress under Governor Uba Sani

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has responded to his critics on social media, stating that he does not care how they interpret his posts.

In a message shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, El-Rufai dismissed his detractors, saying they were free to interpret his posts however they wished, but it would not affect him in any way.

He stated, “Interpret, misinterpret, or reinterpret any posts, by me or others, as you wish. I frankly don’t give a damn. Abuse and insult with no basis. By all means, pass your judgment in ignorance and bigotry. Nothing will change. What will be, will be, in sha Allah. – @elrufai.”

El-Rufai has been in the spotlight following allegations from the Kaduna State House of Assembly that his administration mismanaged N423 billion of the state’s resources.

BREAKING: Despite public outrage, senate, reps ratify Tinubu’s State of Emergency in Rivers

In March, the current Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, revealed that his administration inherited a significant debt burden from El-Rufai’s government, amounting to $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities. He lamented that due to the currency’s depreciation, the state is now repaying almost three times the amount originally borrowed.

“Despite the huge debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities sadly inherited from the previous administration, we remain resolute in steering Kaduna State towards progress and sustainable development. We have thoroughly assessed our situation and are sharpening our focus accordingly. It gladdens my heart to inform you that despite the huge inherited debt, till date, we have not borrowed a single kobo,” Governor Sani said.

El-Rufai recently taunted Governor Sani’s administration after an X user posted pictures of waste dumps in Kaduna, sarcastically suggesting that Sani had “changed Kaduna completely” since taking office. In response, El-Rufai cryptically remarked, “From God we all came, and to Him we shall all return.”

This remark backfired as users posted photos of trash-filled streets during El-Rufai’s tenure. The former Governor later clarified on his X handle, insisting that his statement was neither cryptic nor coded but merely a “reminder of ultimate accountability and judgment by God, not that of fallible humans.”
