Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to strengthening ties with Indonesia, emphasizing the significant economic potential for collaboration.
This was highlighted during the second Indonesia-Africa Forum, held from September 1-3, 2024, in Bali.
Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, led the Nigerian delegation. He stressed the mutual benefits of enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, and knowledge exchange between the two regions.
“The Indonesia-Africa Forum marks a new era of cooperation, focusing on economic transformation, energy, food security, and the digital economy,” said Minister Idris.
The forum, which brought together leaders and stakeholders from across Africa and Indonesia, highlighted the regions’ combined demographic and economic strength, representing over 1.7 billion people and a GDP of USD 4.4 trillion.
Nigeria’s leadership in advancing the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and its active role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) were also emphasized during discussions, as key to boosting intra-African trade and industrialization.
