Osun State’s executive council has taken a significant step towards strengthening its procurement process by approving a draft amendment aimed at sealing loopholes.
Commissioner Kolapo Alimi shared this development with journalists in Osogbo, highlighting the council’s endorsement of the proposed reforms.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has swiftly followed up by transmitting the bill to the state House of Assembly, setting the stage for its legislative review and potential passage.
The council’s resolutions also encompassed preparations for the state government’s second anniversary, commendations for exceptional performance in select ministries, and a push for broader public engagement.
Additionally, the council directed the Ministry of Education to conduct interviews with teaching applicants who met the predetermined cutoff criteria, as part of the ongoing teacher recruitment exercise.
“The Council presided over by Governor Ademola Adeleke gave the directive after receiving updated reports from the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Adedipo Eluwole, who briefed the council on the activities leading to this final stage of the exercise,” he said.
“The Council, while emphasising the need for a meritorious outcome, further directed the ministry to issue a detailed official notice on the interview exercise, listing the dates and venue,” he said.
Alimi noted that the council acknowledged the issuance of letters to teachers on the elongated service programme for which about two thousand beneficiaries have been issued letters of engagement, describing this as part of concerted efforts to bridge the staff shortage within the state school system.
