Troops foil Boko Haram attack on Yobe town as insurgents torch buildings

This attack comes just days after terrorists killed at least 34 people in the region

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have launched a fresh attack in Yobe State, targeting Buni Yadi, the headquarters of Gujba Local Government Area.

This attack comes just days after terrorists killed at least 34 people in the region.

Sources revealed that the insurgents struck a vigilante camp near the government lodge in Sabon Fegi, setting fire to parts of the lodge and two vehicles from a local bread factory.

The attackers, who arrived on foot, were repelled by vigilantes and security forces, though they managed to burn down the camp before fleeing.

A member of the vigilante group was reported injured during the clash, and security sources indicated that authorities had earlier received intelligence about the planned infiltration.

Yobe State Police Command confirmed the incident, with spokesperson DSP Dungus Abdulkarim stating that the terrorists arrived on foot and opened fire. Captain Shehu Muhammad of Operation Lafiya Dole also confirmed that troops successfully foiled the attack.
