The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has welcomed Ali Isa Jita, a renowned Kannywood singer, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

According to Ismail Mudashir, the Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity, Ali Jita announced his defection during a courtesy visit to Senator Barau at his residence in Abuja on Thursday.

Senator Barau praised Jita’s decision to join the APC, calling it a positive development. He said, “As a young and talented artist, Ali Jita will bring valuable experience and expertise to the party, benefiting the music industry and Kannywood. We welcome you to the largest party; you are welcome on board.”

In his remarks, Ali Jita, who also serves as the Chairman of the Kano Singers Association, known as Murya Daya, expressed his admiration for Senator Barau. He stated, “I was initially drawn to the Kwankwasiyya Movement by its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. However, I have left the red cap movement and officially joined the APC.”
