Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has dissolved the 17 Local Government Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen, with the decision taking effect from 6th September 2024.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Friday night.
The committees, originally formed on 9th June 2023 for a six-month term, had their mandates extended multiple times until the latest decision.
The Governor, through a statement signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Gyang Bere, instructed the Directors of Personnel Management in the 17 local government areas to take over the administration until elections are held on 9th October 2024 to fill the positions.
Mutfwang commended the chairmen for their service and encouraged them to continue providing guidance to foster peace and unity within both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Plateau State.
He also urged them to work closely with their communities to secure the party’s success in the upcoming local government elections.
In his remarks, the Governor expressed gratitude to the people of Plateau State for their steadfast support, emphasising that the results of the PDP primaries for chairmanship and councillorship positions reflect the strong ties between the party and the people.
Governor Mutfwang reiterated his commitment to leading an inclusive, transparent, and accountable government that represents the interests of all citizens of Plateau State.
