The family of Umar Faruq Abubakar, a 31-year-old computer engineer, has issued a public appeal for assistance following his mysterious disappearance.

Faruq left Abuja for Ilorin on August 28, 2024, and has not been heard from since.

Desperate to locate their loved one, the family released a notice on Sunday, offering a cash reward for any useful information about his whereabouts.

“Umar Faruq Abubakar left from Abuja to Ilorin on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. He has not been reachable since. Anyone with useful information should please contact 08136570994, 09061429206 or report to the nearest police station. Cash reward awaits the person,” the notice reads.

A family member confirmed to SaharaReporters that the last contact with Faruq was on August 26, two days before he embarked on his journey. “We haven’t heard from him since then. All his numbers are switched off, and he’s been offline on social networks,” the relative said.

The family has reported the case to the police in Abuja and is urging the public to assist in their search. Faruq, originally from Ilorin, Kwara State, is fluent in Yoruba, English, and Hausa.
