  • Oyebanji accused the corps of neglecting its responsibilities and shifting the burden to the state government

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on the Senate Committee on Youth Development to assist in upgrading the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in the state.

During a meeting with the committee, led by Chairman Senator Yemi Adaramodu in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Oyebanji expressed concerns over the deteriorating condition of the NYSC camp in Emure Ekiti, accusing the corps of neglecting its responsibilities and shifting the burden to the state government.

The governor also appealed to the Senate to implement policies promoting skill acquisition among Nigerian youths, stressing that education without practical skills leaves them at a disadvantage in the modern world.

“I’m not happy that NYSC has shifted its responsibility to the state. We are working to improve the camp, including fixing roads and adding 45 convenience units, but NYSC needs to play its part,” Oyebanji said, urging the Senate to ensure the camp’s inclusion in the next budget.
