The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has emphasized that a united approach to addressing global challenges for development benefits everyone.
He made these remarks during the 2024 Cross-Continental Forum held in Bali, Indonesia, on September 1st and 2nd. Represented by Rep. Uche Okonkwo, who serves as the head of the Nigerian delegation and represents the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency of Anambra State, Speaker Abbas highlighted that solutions can be derived from a broad range of knowledge and experiences through a united approach.
He commended the history and purpose behind the establishment of the Indonesia/Africa Parliamentary Forum (IAPF) and described it as a valuable platform for fostering common development, resolving challenges, and mitigating risks among participating countries.
The speaker expressed satisfaction with this year’s theme, which focused on practical and sustainable strategies to overcome significant global challenges in food security, education, health, and production investments.
Speaker Abbas reiterated Nigeria’s strong commitment to the rule of law, adherence to international conventions and obligations, and respect for multilateral institutions and laws governing trade, commerce, culture, and religion.
He also noted the cordial and fruitful relationship between Nigeria and Indonesia, which he believes should be continuously strengthened and optimized.
