Mary Idele Alile, the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged governors across Nigeria to offer more opportunities for women in governance. She emphasized the need for greater female representation in decision-making processes and suggested that women can bring fresh perspectives to leadership.
During a visit to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State in Akure, Alile commended him for his dedication to promoting women’s empowerment and inclusion in governance. She highlighted the importance of appointing women to key state and national government roles.
Alile praised Aiyedatiwa’s efforts to align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by involving women in significant state decisions. She stated, “Governor Aiyedatiwa has made notable progress in increasing female participation in governance, creating opportunities for women to play meaningful roles.”
She called on other governors to follow Aiyedatiwa’s example, stressing that including women in governance strengthens leadership and empowers them to contribute effectively to nation-building.
Alile also urged women in Ondo State to support Aiyedatiwa in the upcoming November 16 gubernatorial election, recognizing his commitment to women’s inclusion in leadership.
In response, Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing women’s roles in governance, stating that his government would continue to make political appointments that ensure women have a say in the state’s decision-making process.
