Police arrest five kidnapping suspects in Imo state, rescue victim

  • The police reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing public safety and tackling crime

Police in Imo State have arrested five suspects linked to kidnappings in Obinze, Avu, and Ihiagwa. The suspects, all from Sokoto and Kano States, were apprehended on August 21, and the kidnapped victim has been rescued.

Those arrested include Umaru Usman (40), Tukur Yau (25), Musbau Sabo (18), Abdul Ibrahim (30), and Jubrin Idris (35). According to police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the arrests are part of ongoing operations to combat kidnapping in the state.

In a separate incident, a 25-year-old man, Nwauba Alex, was arrested for attempted robbery near Aladinma Primary School, Owerri. A locally made pistol and live ammunition were recovered.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing public safety and tackling crime.

Separately, the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) issued a security alert following recent kidnappings near its main gate.
