- Recall that the government had earlier announced that schools were to resume on September 9, 2024.
The Kano state government has announced September 15th as the new start date for all boarding schools, both public and private, in the state.
This date marks the beginning of the first term of the 2024/2025 academic year.
According to a statement released on Thursday by Balarabe Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment for the state’s Ministry of Education, day school students will resume classes on Monday, September 16th, 2024.
The state government asked parents and guardians to take note of this new announcement and ensure their children comply.
Kiru also advised students to behave responsibly and refrain from bringing prohibited items, such as weapons, to school.
He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to providing quality education and a supportive learning environment.
It’s worth noting that the Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Umar Doguwa, had previously announced a postponement of the resumption date on September 7th, 2024, citing unforeseen circumstances.
In a previous statement, Balarabe Kiru quoted Commissioner Doguwa as attributing the postponement to pressing matters, without elaborating on the specific reasons.
