NEPC reaffirms commitment to boost Ogun’s cashew industry amid export growth

Ogun's Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, emphasised the crop’s economic significance

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has pledged continued support to the Ogun State Government to enhance the cashew industry.

During a one-day intervention programme and distribution of cashew seedlings, Ogun’s Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, emphasised the crop’s economic significance and its potential to boost the state’s revenue and job creation.

Onasanya noted that the initiative aligns with the One State, One Product programme, which aims to address capacity building, infrastructure development, and market access issues for cashew farmers.

This comes as the National Bureau of Statistics reported that Nigeria exported cashew nuts worth over N228.97 billion in three months.

NEPC’s Executive Director, Nonye Ayeni, represented by Director of Product Development, Mrs Evelyn Obidike, underscored the council’s commitment to advancing cashew production through the One State, One Product initiative, positioning Ogun as a major player in Nigeria’s cashew export market.
