Security analyst Bulama Bukarti has stated that attempts by bandits’ leader, Bello Turji, to intimidate him will not succeed. Bukarti made this statement in response to Turji’s recent comments regarding his analysis of certain developments in Zamfara State.
Bukarti called on the government to continue its efforts to eliminate banditry and other criminal activities in the country. He said, “Turji’s attack is an attempt to intimidate me, but it will fail. This is not the first time I have faced such threats — Abubakar Shekau, the ruthless Boko Haram leader, targeted me on several occasions. I did not back down then, and I certainly won’t now. Shekau is gone, and by God’s grace, Turji will soon follow.”
He continued, “Terrorists like Turji continue to kill, kidnap, rape, rob, and enslave innocent Nigerians with impunity. Now, he targets advocates for peace, justice, and good governance like myself, emboldened by the government’s insufficient action against them.”
Bukarti urged the Nigerian government to intensify its military operations against Turji and other terrorist groups, emphasizing, “They are currently the gravest threat to Nigeria’s peace, security, and progress and must be dealt with accordingly. As always, I will continue to do my part in this fight to rid our country of these despicable criminals.”
In a video, Turji had attacked Bukarti and journalist Bello Galadanci, also known as Dan Bello, labelling them as “Western lackeys” and “infidels.” Turji claimed that he had imposed a levy on the people of Dan Moriki because they had killed his cattle, rustled camels, and killed some of his men.
