- Obasanjo also called on the state government to enlighten local farmers on dairy farming and practices
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has lamented the discontinuation of his Operation Feed the Nation agriculture initiative.
This is even as he asserted that Nigeria would not be grappling with food inflation and scarcity if his successors sustained the scheme.
Obasanjo made the assertion in Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Thursday.
He noted that the Operation Feed the Nation
would have further improved the country’s food sufficiency.
The former president, however, implored Nigerians to invest in livestock farming, advising the Oyo State Government to turn the state into a dairy epicenter by harnessing its potential for livestock and dairy production.
Obasanjo also called on the state government to enlighten local farmers on dairy farming and practices.
Governor Seyi Makinde, in his address, said his administration remained committed to providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Represented by his deputy, Mr Bayo Lawal, the governor assured investors that his government would continue providing security and facilities while implementing policies supporting their businesses
