The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has reiterated the Service’s commitment to trade facilitation and accountability in its communications with Nigerians.
Speaking at the 2024 opening ceremony of the NCS Public Relations Conference, which was recently held in Abuja and was themed “Navigating the Horizon: The Evolving Paradigm Shift in the Public Relations Activities of the Nigeria Customs Service,” Adeniyi emphasized the importance of aligning the Service’s activities with the objectives of the President and the federal government.
He stated, “We have to align what we do with the objective of the President and the federal government in carrying out our mandate and effective communication because that is the only way Nigerians will know and understand what we are doing.”
He also highlighted the need for continuous innovation and capacity building for Customs officers, noting that public relations is evolving in a technologically advanced world.
The National Public Relations Officer of Customs, Abdullahi Aliyu Maiwada, also spoke at the event, emphasizing that the Service’s long-term strategic plan aims to enhance effective communication. He described this as a transformative journey for Customs, particularly when the country requires improved trade facilitation and revenue generation.
