The Kano State Government has rescheduled the resumption date for all-day public and private primary and post-primary schools to Tuesday, 17 September 2024.

This adjustment was made in light of the upcoming Eid-el-Maulud holiday. Pupils and students attending boarding schools, however, will resume a day earlier, on Monday, 16 September 2024.

The announcement was made in a statement by Balarabe Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment for the State Ministry of Education. He quoted the State Commissioner of Education, Umar Doguwa, explaining that the shift follows the declaration of 16 September as a public holiday to celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, which commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“The adjustment is to allow students to observe this holy day in celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) birth,” Doguwa said. He also congratulated the Muslim Ummah and urged them to uphold the values of patience, sacrifice, and patriotism while praying for peace and progress in the state and the country.

Parents and guardians were advised to take note of the revised resumption dates to ensure their children return to school promptly. Doguwa also extended his best wishes to students, pupils, and teachers, hoping for a peaceful Maulud celebration and a successful start to the new academic session.
