- Gusau assured the public of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s commitment to upholding justice, fairness, and the rule of law.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has ordered for probe into the purported wrongful detention of Nigerian Naval rating Seaman Abbas Haruna, who has been held for six years.
Haruna’s spouse recently aired her grievances on a radio program in Abuja, claiming that military authorities had unjustly detained her husband for nearly six years.
This development was disclosed in a statement released by Acting Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, on Monday in Abuja.
Gusau reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s dedication to promoting justice, fairness, and adherence to the law.
He emphasized that the military’s court-martial process, although thorough, guarantees impartiality, equal opportunities, and justice, aligning with established military protocols and legislation.
“The outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course.
“The DHQ urges the general public to exercise caution and refrain from spreading unsubstantiated information while the investigation is ongoing.
“We assure Nigerians that the armed forces will ensure a speedy and transparent investigation.
