The Lagos State Government has reopened the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge in Maryland, less than two months after its temporary closure for rehabilitation.
In a statement on Monday, the state Commissioner for Transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, announced that the rehabilitation work, initially scheduled for 90 days, was completed ahead of time.
“We are pleased to inform road users that the rehabilitation has been completed under two months,” Osiyemi said, adding that the project would ease traffic flow between the Mainland and Island.
The commissioner praised Lagosians for their patience during the period and commended the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for effectively managing traffic.
Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, who was present at the reopening, issued a stern warning to vandals, highlighting the consequences of damaging public infrastructure.
