Prince Tom Iseghohi-Okojie, the Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate for the September 21 election in Edo State, and his running mate, Deaconess Mabel Onaiwu, have officially endorsed Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
Their decision to form an alliance with the APC was driven by dissatisfaction with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership. Speaking at a press conference in Benin, Iseghohi-Okojie explained that, after much consideration, he concluded that supporting Okpebholo was in the best interest of Edo’s future.
“The PDP had its chance but failed to bring the progress our state deserves. While I could continue my candidacy, it became clear that uniting behind a capable leader, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is the best way to achieve positive change for Edo,” Iseghohi-Okojie stated.
He directed his supporters to back Okpebholo, citing the APC candidate’s thoughtful leadership, strategic vision, and deep connection to the people of Edo State as key reasons for the endorsement.
In response, APC Edo State chairman Jarrett Tenebe praised Iseghohi-Okojie and Onaiwu for their “patriotic stand,” expressing confidence that this endorsement would strengthen the party’s chances of victory in the upcoming election.
