  • This adjustment aims to bring clarity and precision to the legal framework.
  • The law will also eliminate potential confusion arising from the interchangeable use of these terms.

Niger State Governor Umar Bago has given his seal of approval to amend the Office of the Auditor-General, impacting both state and local governments.

This development was disclosed through a statement issued by Bologi Ibrahim, the governor’s chief press secretary.

The signing of the two bills took place at the Council chamber of Government House in Minna.

Specifically, the laws amended are “A law to Amend the Office of the Auditor-General of the State Law 2021 and for connected purposes, 2024” and “A law to Amend the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government Law 2021 and for other connected purposes, 2024.”

Nasir Mu’azu, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, shed light on the legislative changes during a press briefing with journalists.

He pointed out that the first law now uses “law” consistently, replacing previous instances of “bill” to maintain uniform terminology.

Mu’azu further explained that the second law was modified to introduce sub-section seven, allocating a specific percentage for the office of the Auditor-General and employees of both offices.
