The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast more rains across the country from Tuesday to Thursday, warning of potential thunderstorms and urging the public to take precautions.
In its weather report released on Monday, NiMet predicted thunderstorms over Bauchi, Kebbi, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, Adamawa, and Kaduna states on Tuesday morning. Later in the day, these conditions are expected to intensify across the northern region.
The North Central region, including Kogi, Benue, Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, and Niger, will also experience thunderstorms in the morning, with storms continuing later in the day over Kwara, Plateau, and other parts of the region.
In the southern states, NiMet expects moderate rains on Tuesday morning, affecting Ebonyi, Imo, Enugu, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Rivers. Intermittent rain is forecast for the afternoon.
For Wednesday, the agency anticipates thunderstorms in the morning over Taraba, Adamawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, and Kaduna. Thunderstorms are expected later across Borno, Gombe, Adamawa, and other northern states.
North Central states, including the FCT, Kogi, Niger, and Kwara, are likely to experience thunderstorms in both the morning and afternoon. The southern region will also see thunderstorms throughout the day, including Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Enugu, and Imo.
On Thursday, NiMet predicts early morning thunderstorms in Sokoto, Kebbi, Taraba, and Adamawa. Later in the day, the storms are expected to spread to Borno, Bauchi, and Kaduna, with isolated thunderstorms over Nasarawa and the FCT.
Isolated thunderstorms will affect southern states, including Osun, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, and Bayelsa, on Thursday morning.
