In Oyo State, two persons will be spending the next few months behind the bars for allegedly unleashing four dogs on police officers to stop the arrest of a suspect.
The suspects, a woman, Olayinka Akinware, 35, and Tunji Adesina, 29, were arraigned before a magistrate on Thursday.
An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Ibadan, the state capital, ordered that they be remanded for the incident.
The plea of the suspects was rejected by the magistrate, Mr. M. Mudashiru for want
of jurisdiction.
He then ordered that they should be remanded in Abolongo Correctional facility in Oyo.
Mudashiru, who said the remand is pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution, adjourned the matter until December 18, 2024, for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Femi Oluwadare, disclosed that the suspects were charged with conspiracy and prevention of arrest.

“Akinware and Adesina unleashed their pitbull, rottweiler and two Eskimo dogs on the police in an attempt to prevent the lawful arrest of Korede Adeoye, while performing their duty, ” Oluwadare said.
He said the offence was committed at No 15, Oluwo area, Ibadan.
Oluwadare said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 332 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
Section 332 stipulates life imprisonment for the offender if found guilty of the offence
