- INEC has begun distributing sensitive materials for the Edo State governorship election, causing significant traffic congestion around the CBN office in Benin
- The State Resident Electoral Commissioner confirmed that the distribution process is underway, ensuring materials reach all 18 local government areas
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started distributing sensitive materials for Saturday’s governorship election across Edo State’s 18 local government areas.
This distribution took place on Thursday morning at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office, which is located at the Akpakpava junction on Ring Road, Benin.
The activity has caused significant traffic congestion, with only one vehicle lane open. Trucks hired to transport the materials are parked next to the CBN building, while the area has been mostly shut down for commercial activities. Buses are using one lane to move in and out.
Journalists from various media outlets, both print and electronic, were present to cover the event.
Onuoha Anugbum, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, oversaw the material distribution and confirmed the process to reporters inside the CBN premises.
He stated, “We have commenced the distribution of sensitive materials to the local government areas.”
