Manchester City could be expelled from several major competitions, including the Premier League, if found guilty of breaching financial regulations, according to reports.

As reported by The Telegraph, the club faces potential expulsion from the FA Cup, EFL Cup, and Premier League. There is also uncertainty surrounding their participation in the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

In February 2023, following a four-year investigation, the Premier League charged Manchester City with breaking 115 financial rules between 2009 and 2018. The charges include failing to provide accurate financial information on sponsorship income, revenue, and operating costs. They are also accused of offering a secret contract to one of their managers, who was allegedly paid more than officially disclosed.

The club is accused of breaching UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules over five years and not fully cooperating with the Premier League’s investigation.

Manchester City has denied the allegations, and the hearing into these 115 charges began on September 16, 2024. Dubbed “the sport’s trial of the century,” the hearing is expected to last for about 10 weeks, with a final verdict anticipated in early 2025. However, speculation continues to grow about the possible consequences the club may face if found guilty.
