  • Ohanaeze Ndigbo plans to meet President Tinubu to discuss restructuring, Nnamdi Kanu’s release, and burial arrangements for Chief Iwuanyanwu
  • The leadership emphasizes commitment to Iwuanyanwu’s legacy, advocating for fairness and justice in addressing key issues affecting the Igbo community

The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has announced plans to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discuss key issues, including restructuring, the release of Nnamdi Kanu, and burial arrangements for their late President General Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

Senator Ben Obi, Chairman of the National Burial Planning Committee, and Chief Okey Emuchay, Secretary General of Ohanaeze, shared this with journalists on Thursday in Abuja.

Chief Iwuanyanwu, an elder statesman, passed away on July 25, 2024, at 82, following a brief illness. His burial is scheduled for November 2024.

Senator Obi noted that Ohanaeze would request the president to honour Iwuanyanwu for his contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic and political development. He said, “We will be visiting the president. We believe the president will do the right thing in recognizing his legacy.”
