The Kano State government has announced plans to construct houses for those displaced by recent floods, according to a statement by the media aide to Governor Abba Yusuf, Sunusi Bataure.
The governor revealed the initiative during the weekly state Executive Council meeting, stating that the project aims to provide secure housing for affected families and mitigate the impact of the flooding.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, the state government will also supply food and essential items to flood victims.
Governor Yusuf further announced that 220,000 students in basic and post-basic schools would receive chairs and desks as part of the administration’s educational reforms. Additionally, all Primary 1 pupils will receive free uniforms, in line with the state’s Declaration of Emergency on Education.
The governor urged stakeholders to collaborate in achieving the state’s educational goals and pledged to rehabilitate school infrastructure across Kano.
