- Iduoriyekemwen led PDP protests at INEC, demanding accountability and vowing to contest any manipulated election outcomes in Edo State
Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, the Director General of the Asue/Ogie Campaign Council for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has alleged plans to manipulate the results of the Edo State governorship election in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking in the early hours of Sunday, Iduoriyekemwen claimed that despite the PDP’s lead, attempts were made to alter the final tally to favour the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
He accused APC leaders, including Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Philip Shaibu, of engaging in electoral malpractice, such as thumb-printing ballot papers to narrow the PDP’s lead.
“We will not accept this, we will contest it” he said as he led the protesters to the INEC office at about 2:27 am.
Iduoriyekemwen led a small group of PDP protesters to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office, but they were later dispersed by police after journalists reported their grievances. He vowed that the PDP would not accept manipulated results and would contest any such outcome.
