The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, extended warm congratulations to Monday Okpebholo on his victory as Edo State’s governor-elect.

Okpebholo secured a winning margin with 291,667 votes, surpassing PDP’s Asue Ighodalo (247,274 votes) and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata (22,763 votes).

The APC candidate dominated 11 LGAs, while the ruling party won 7.

Despite mixed reactions and allegations surrounding the September 21 election, Abiodun praised the process as transparent and legitimate in his congratulatory message to Okpebholo, the APC, and President Bola Tinubu.

Abiodun noted that the peaceful election, demonstrates Nigeria’s maturing democracy.

Abiodun applauded Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s efforts to ensure a free and fair election.

“Such a commitment to democratic principles is a testament to INEC’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and fostering trust in the electoral system,” Abiodun said.

He commended Edo residents for actively participating in the electoral process, emphasizing that their voices were clearly heard.

“This election not only reflects their wishes but also signifies a collective stride towards more vibrant and accountable governance,” he added.

Abiodun credited Tinubu’s visionary leadership for the APC’s success, acknowledging the party’s growth under his guidance.

He reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s democratic advancement.
