Bandits storm Abuja community, kill imam, abduct one


One Alhaji Salisu Danfulani, a renowned transporter has been abducted by bandits in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Danfulani was kidnapped when the armed non-state actors invaded a ‘Tipper Garage’ in Mpape town.

The bandits also gunned down one imam during the attack which residents said happened on Sunday night.

According to a resident, Nasiru Ahmad, the assailants attacked the town while members of the garage were coming out of a mosque after the day’s last prayer.

He said the mosque’s imam, Ahmad Maidara, tried to escape the scene through another route but unknown to him, some of the attackers had already taken position there. Ahmad said they shot him dead.

He also revealed that another member of the garage who was also shot on his hand was rushed to a hospital where he was treated in the night.

Daily Trust reports that the gunmen who arrived at the location through the mountainous terrain close to the garage equally left through the same way after the operation.

The national president of the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW), Comrade Hamza Muhammad, confirmed the incident.

He said the corpse of the deceased imam was taken to his residence in Gwagwa town in Abuja before he was buried yesterday.
