Man Utd Stadium Regeneration Could Add £7.3bn To British Economy

Proposed Old Trafford Redevelopment Could Boost UK Economy by £7.3 Billion, But No Public Funding Will Be Allocated

Manchester United

A feasibility study commissioned by the club estimates that a proposed redevelopment of the area surrounding Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium could add an estimated £7.3 billion ($9.7 billion) annually to the British economy.

Despite the economic benefits, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham stated on Monday that no public funds would be allocated to the project.

Manchester United is currently weighing two options: constructing a new 100,000-seater stadium, or redeveloping the existing 74,000-capacity Old Trafford.

Burnham has expressed support for the redevelopment plan, including a “mixed-use” neighborhood with apartment complexes, shopping centers, and improved public transportation infrastructure.
