The Nigerian government is set to boost its space technology capabilities through international partnerships, according to the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Nnaji met with representatives from Axiom Space to discuss potential collaborations.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Director of Media and Corporate Communications at the National Space Research and Development Agency, Dr. Felix Ale, said Nnaji highlighted the transformative role of space technologies, emphasising their impact on sectors like healthcare, agriculture, education, and weather forecasting.

“The space economy has the potential to create wealth and drive national development,” Nnaji said, expressing Nigeria’s openness to partnerships in developing its space programme.
