In a major blow to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, around 10,000 supporters of Senator Shehu Sani have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This mass defection comes just 24 hours after the PDP unveiled its new state executives.

Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the Senate from 2015 to 2019 and was a PDP gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 elections, is expected to switch to the APC in the coming days officially.

Supporters from all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State gathered at the APC Campaign Office at the NEPA Roundabout, holding posters of Senator Sani and showing their enthusiasm for his return to the ruling party.

Monday Jaji, Sani’s former Campaign Director under the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), emphasized his role in facilitating Sani’s defection and praised the senator’s achievements during his time in office.

The Kaduna State Chairman of the APC, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (Rtd), welcomed the defectors, stating that their addition would strengthen the APC’s influence and development in the state.

The PDP, already struggling with losses to the APC, faces further challenges as more lawmakers who lost their National Assembly seats in the last election are also expected to defect to the ruling party.
