The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, presiding over her confirmation hearing, which justed ended in its Committee of the Whole in Abuja on Wednesday, 25th of September, 2024.
Kekere-Ekun is the country’s 23rd occupant of the head of the judicial arm of government and the second female appointed to the seat.
During the exercise, Kekere-Ekun vowed to ensure that petitions are dealt with speedily to foster integrity within the judiciary.
She pledged to do her best and uphold the integrity of the judiciary, uphold the rule of law and defend the Constitution of Nigeria.
“I am known for integrity and discipline, I will ensure zero tolerance for corruption,” Kekere-Ekun assured.
